PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Traditional Mudgar
For centuries, wrestlers in India's akharas swung the Mudgar, a traditional Indian heavy club, to build strong shoulders, a powerful grip and a body that moves freely. Today, engineers, doctors, yoga practitioners and everyday fitness lovers use it for the same reason: it works.
Why Heavy Club Training Works
The Mudgar keeps most of its weight at the far end, away from your hand. As you swing it around your shoulder, the joint moves through a full circle, the way it's built to move. Your grip and forearms work hard to control the pull, while your core and upper back keep you stable on every swing.
It's one tool that trains shoulder mobility, grip, core and upper back together.
Choose Your Weight
Available from 2–3 kg to 10–12 kg. If it's your first heavy club, start light and learn control first. A weight on a long handle feels heavier than you'd expect.
Handcrafted by Us
Every Mudgar is made by hand in our own workshop in Dehradun from kiln-dried African Mahogany. We craft and polish each piece so it lasts for years.
SPECIFICATION
CARE & MAINTENANCE GUIDE
- No Oiling or Cleaning Needed: African Mahogany is naturally termite-resistant, and our water-based polish protects it for life. No oiling, no re-polishing, just train and enjoy.
- Use It Often: Swing it at least 2–3 days a week. African Mahogany has natural oils, and regular handling keeps the wood healthy. Over time, it slowly turns a richer, darker shade that's uniquely yours.
- Train in the Sun, Store in the Shade: Swinging outdoors is fine. Store it away from direct sunlight, upright or flat. Taking a long break? Keep it in the cotton bag that comes with it.
- Keep It Dry: Don't leave it in the rain or a damp place. If it gets wet, wipe it dry straight away.
- Don't Drop It From a Height: You can train on any surface. Just avoid dropping it from a height, as a heavy piece of wood can dent on impact.

Customer Reviews
Overall rating: 5.0 / 5 from 219 reviews.
I’ve been using my mudgar since it arrived, and I absolutely love it! I especially enjoy 360s, warrior poses, pendulums and other flowing movements. It feels like stretching, muscle work and cardio all rolled into one. It really gets my feet, hips and shoulders involved and my joints moving. My only practical tip: make sure you have plenty of clear space around you, especially indoors, so you don’t accidentally hit the furniture!
Absolutely impressed with the quality of this handcrafted club! The finish is top-notch, with beautiful wood grain and outstanding attention to detail. The grip feels incredibly comfortable and secure, making it perfect for training and workouts. The custom name engraving was done flawlessly and adds a very personal touch that makes the club feel truly unique. Customer service was exceptional throughout the entire process, responding quickly and ensuring every detail was exactly as requested. Highly recommend this product to anyone looking for premium craftsmanship and excellent service.
I’m really pleased with my 3kg Mudgar from Mudgar Club! The quality is top-notch, and I’ve already started practising a few basic moves with it. It’s a real pleasure to use, and I’m thoroughly enjoying learning the movements. Very happy with it and looking forward to exploring more! for intel im 173cm height and 67 kilo male ;)
I purchased the 4–5 kg Mudgar from Mudgar Club, and I’m extremely happy with the product. The grip is firm and comfortable, and the handle feels sturdy and well-built. With proper care, I believe it can easily last for a long time. Since the Mudgar is a custom-made product, it does take some time to be delivered. In my case, it took around 1½ months to arrive, so it’s definitely worth keeping the delivery time in mind when ordering. The customer service team was also very supportive and responded promptly whenever I reached out to them. Overall, it’s an excellent product and definitely worth the wait. I’ve been using it regularly as part of my workouts and have really enjoyed training with it. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a well-built traditional Mudgar.

Don’t have to think twice before buying this Mudgar. It’s easily the finest quality of craftsmanship I have seen in a long time. It has a good weight, and feel to it. You can feel the high quality in the make as soon as you hold it in your hands. Absolutely loved it and it blew past my expectations by a mile!

Value for money and excellent finish
Recently purchased a mudgar, and I’m really impressed with the quality! The weight distribution is perfect for traditional workouts, and the grip feels solid. Great for improving shoulder and grip strength. Totally worth the price.
I was initially skeptical about the quality of the Mudgar, but after receiving it, I must say the craftsmanship and finish are absolutely outstanding. The product has truly exceeded my expectations. One area where the Mudgar Club team could improve is in providing timely delivery updates. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied with my purchase. I’ve already ordered the 3kg and 5kg Mudgars, the Shena board, and the 4kg and 8kg Samtolas — and I’ll definitely be ordering the Persian Meel and Gada in the future.
Ordered one for my dad.. almost a month ago. He was extremely fond of mudgar, used to practice during his late teenage and early twenties - using his friends'. Fulfilled every duty of a family man,but never invested anything for himself (dad being dad) Now finally he got one for himself, his own. 56 years, and not a single day skipped ever since delivered. Great quality, aesthetic look, finely polished (freeing the burden of oiling it periodically),customised, offering greater degree of movement! Wish had this earlier in life..but better late than never.
Good quality, nice grip to move
I bought one for myself to improve shoulder and wrist mobility to enhance my yoga practice. The classes offered by Anjit were really helpful to grt started. Now I’ve gifted one to my husband as well!

I was looking for high-quality equipment to begin my swinging journey, and The Mudgar Club stood out—not only compared to other brands but especially when set against generic marketplace products. Here’s why I wholeheartedly recommend The Mudgar Club: Revival of a traditional Bharatiya art – They are not just selling a product; they are preserving heritage. High-quality products – Both of my mudgars arrived in perfect condition and have fine finishing. Commitment to research and continuous product refinement – Their attention to detail sets them apart. Clear, smooth, and timely communication – Every query was handled with professionalism. Truly personalised client service – You feel valued, not just as a customer, but as part of a shared journey.
